Yorkshire Day

August 1

Yorkshire Day is celebrated on August 1st. Yorkshire belongs to the United Kingdom and was formerly known as the County of York. The name came from it being the Shire of the city of York, commonly referred to as York’s Shire. It is the largest county in the U.K. and has always been recognized as a cultural region and a geographical territory.

As an area on the up and up, it’s becoming one of the most important places in the UK, as the likes of #Leeds, #Hull, #Bradford have become prominent as centres of finance, culture and much more.

If you live in #Yorkshire, why not check out some of our wonderful charities and organisations based in the area on our Community Maps. Many are looking for #Volunteers.
